700r4 hard shift and now no overdrive

I was driving my truck down the road today and the
overdrive just went out it was shifting hard from overdrive
to drive what is the problem

The 3rd and 4th gear clutch pack is worn out, or the input spring broke. Have a transmission shop diagnose it. But if the trans is original, 21 years, you got your money's worth.
