Can you put synthetic oil in older vehicles with high mileage? I have a 93 C/K 1500 Chevorlet Z 4.3L
i tried it in a 3800 v-6.. 89 Buick riviera. my seals were not designed to hold it in. main bearing seal was moderately leaky. you can blend in a quart with your normal oil to see how it goes. like 1 quart synthetic and 3.5 quarts regular 10w-30.
Right, as you probably read, that synthetic has more detergents and might clean out the dirt around the gaskets holding the oil in. You might run the risk of more leaks. Stick with conventional oil and change regularly.
Thanks guys! That's all I needed to know.
