I have a 1996 Chevy k1500 and my front left cv shaft is broke would I be able to take it out and still be able to drive it

The only way is to remove the outer end of the cv axle that goes thru the hub assembly and bolt it back on the hub assembly. It holds it together. Otherwise your wheel will fall off
