Instrument cluster

I have a 2002 buick century, my cluster lights turn
on expect my prndl and my fuel doesnt work, i
bought a new one an i hooked it in and i
disconnected the battery and when i turn my car
on it works but when i turn it off and back on it
doesnt work anymore, i dont know whats wrong

Forgot too mention it does the same with ny check engine when i disconnected the battery my check engine was on and by doing that it came off when i turned it on, turn if off an back on an its comes on again
