Oil leak

Asked by Aug 19, 2012 at 03:24 PM about the 1995 Subaru Impreza LX Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son has a 95 Subaru Impressa and has a major oil leak in the front of the engine. We cannot see where it's coming from but it's somewhere in the timing belt area. I heard that the main seal has two seals to replace. Is that true?

It's called the crankcase seal and you have one in the back called the rear main seal.

Thanks Tom, I was told that there are two front main seals. Doesn't sound right ,I know. The leak is coming from inside the case of the main seal.
