2007 Subaru Impreza taillights will not turn off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I woke up this morning to a dead car and got a jump start. Noticed that
the taillights were not turning off. Checked the parking light switch above the
steering wheel but that was off. I've also checked the brake light switch but
the lights stayed on even when that was unplugged. I ended up pulling out
the taillight fuse and that turned them off, but the brake lights still work.
Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Hatch or sedan? Check wiring harness path through hatch or trunk to see if an abraded wire is shorting to ground. Happens a lot with the hatches.

I've checked that switch 100 times don't worry! And only the running tail lights. Nothing else. I also noticed that my dash illumination would never turn off even with the switch set to off. I've narrowed it down to a fuse. When I pull the clock fuse in the engine bay the lights turn off and my dash lights function normally. However, I will not be near my car for a few months so I cannot trouble shoot any further for now.
