New Engine 2007 Chevy Suburban

Truck was getting low oil pressure turn off immediately.
Took to my mechanic they replaced the oil pressure
sensor and having the same problems. They are
suggesting troubleshoot the motor or replace with a new
one? Suburban has over 200k on it. Clean, no body
damage at all. Worth it? What am i looking at for cost?

I would definitely start with the oil pump
I had problem with low oil pressure upon idle (almost 0 or 5 lbs and when revving engine it went to 40 or higher. Service man dropped front of oil pan and replaced rubber gromit or bushing on oil tube and it fixed problem (he had seen it before). Better to try this first rather than dropping pan and replacing oil pump and not getting problem fixed. Need to find another mechanic other than the one suggesting an engine change out.
Had same problem with my 07 suburban about two months ago....changed oil pressure sensor myself and a week later oil pressure dropped again.So i talked to my friend about it who is a more advanced mechanic than i am.He is the lead mechanic at a shop.He told me the problem was i used an aftermarket oil sensor instead of going to dealership to get one that's GM made.So i got one from dealership put it in and been doing good for two months now.Ask your mechanic did they use aftermarket or GM made oil sensor.Aftermarket does not work.

My 2007 just did the same thing. No oil pressure....shut off engine. My favorite, trusted mechanic said cam bearing went out. Took it to the dealership for a second opinion. They said the same thing. Both said it's common in that vintage. You can try to replace the bearing. But because of the way GM builds that engine they can't access it easily. Have to pull the engine and after you do the work to replace the cam bearing, sleeve, etc. you might as well look at reconditioning the headers and replacing the lifters. Mine has 190k on it. I'll probably put a crate engine in it. It's the 6.0. Hoping to get it done for around $4500. It's worth scrap as it sits. But I totally agree with the person that said it might be time to let go. The A/C got a hole in it and that's a $1000 fix. The compressor went out on the air ride and the air bags got a hole. All had to be replaced. All in all I HATE this thing and want a new one, but I still think the smartest move is putting an engine in it. Unless the tranny goes.............
