Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just replaced starter on 2001 Saturn sc1. Old started just spun without engaging engine. New starter does the same! Fuse? bad solenoid wiring? Any Ideas

flywheel teeth look good.I found that the purple solenoid wire is dead. Perhaps neutral safety switch or ignition switch. Starter is OK via the bench test ...any suggestions?

Try starting the car while having someone check to see if the motor is turning over. Theres also a chance that you got a bad starter out of the box.
