1996 Chevy Lumina slightly overheats, only when idle.

Asked by Austyn182 Oct 27, 2014 at 04:06 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Lumina LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had a overheat condition and it got all the way to HOT and I pulled it over, It
was the fuel pump and I changed it. It cooled fine until recently, I bled the air out of the
system(I broke off the bleeder screw and just pulled the whole screw out just barley to
bleed it that way) my coolant level is fine. Though, since I had the car for a year the
"low coolant" light will come off and on randomly throughout my drives. Whilst I was
bleeding the system I noticed only the driver side fan came on when it was just above
the 1/2 hot mark.

check your reservoir cap also, if it is worn out you will have gradual loss of coolent.
