i hae a really loud knock at the bottom end of the motor i beleive its a crank
bearing any input

It would be one pain in the ass to try and change crank bearings while the engine is in the car. I suppose it is possible, but don't do it that way. Workmanship would not be as good as having the engine upside down on a engine stand. Also the 3.8L engine is a great engine when taken care of.

If you have a bad knock you really want to do a proper tear down anyhow, and not just swap out bearings you think are bad. Who knows what else you'll find when you crack the engine open.

My 1997 camaro struggles sometimes to get up and go if u know what i mean. I know it has a purge flow problem that the check engine light kept coming on. So back in September wheni had to get it inspected I took it somewhere and they did something to it that the purge flow will never show up for the check engine light to come on. Hi, So my dad has a 98 camero he had to replace the tranny. He had a friend attempt to do it but unfortunatly he was a dunce. My dad then put the tranny in himself finally. After getting the tranny in he noticed there where bolts off the motor mount. Now trying to get the bolts back in arnt happening. Can you give some advice, please? 3 Answers
