Car shuts off...something getting hot

I have a 95 limited roadmaster....drive more that 60
miles it dies...gutted Catalytic converter, new fuel
pump ,fuel pump relay,plugs,wires,her, ignition
control module, distributor,fuel filter....but still
dies...onces it sits for a hr or so it start backs and
run with no problem....I need yall help....this the
second distributor due to the first mechanic then
tighten the reservoir lineup so it leaked on the old
distributor....I need help...what's getting hot
shutting it down

Coil could be breaking down once hot that is the only thing you did not do. When you installed the ignition module did you use the heat sink compound? If not that could cause a failure of the part because it will over heat and damage it. The compound should be spread on the back of the module it helps with heat transfer and will keep the part from overheating.

Don't know if the guy put the compound on it....but it won't throw a check engine light....when it gets hot and shuts off...I smell fumes if I try to keep cranking it

Ignition shut down issues and fuel shut off issues generally will not trip an engine code.Without seeing it still believe it is a ignition shut off issue (i.e coil,module,dist)
