What scanner is recommended to read tranny codes on a 07 escape 3.0l auto?

Asked by DoomSayer_actual Apr 18, 2014 at 08:35 PM about the 2007 Ford Escape XLT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My O/D light will flash after a few hard shifts (mostly from 1st to 2nd). I was told that
2nd gear could possibly be out of sync, and I have noticed 4th could also be out of
sync due to the high rpms when at 60 mph+. I was wondering what scanner besides a
Snap-on ETHOS (Which I can't afford) would be able to read any possible codes. Also I
swear I hear a vacuum leak when accelerating, but when I sprayed ether on every
vacuum line/ around the intake and manifold, the RPMS didn't increase above idle. Any
suggestions?
