My mustang won't start, I've purchased a new battery. And it pulled my new battery down, it's just sitting there. Is it my alternator or do I have an open circuit pulling my battery down?

New battery and car sit for two days. Tried to start it, but it won't say a word.  If I put
another battery on it. It will start! Is my alternator shot?
