Have a volvo with a engine KNOCK...after driving in 3rd gear at highway speeds. Garage says not fixable. Want to sell it, but don't want to strand buyer? suggestions?

Advertise as Mechanic's special and disclose the engine problem. Or contact a salvage yard to see what they will offer you.

Volvos are somewhat resilient cars. Even a 2006 run at 4,000 RPM shouldn't have a problem. Have another mechanic diagnose the knock. It might not be as serious as you think. If the engine isn't repairable and otherwise you like the car, you might be able to put a used engine in it for the price of the car.
