Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced the fuel pump its a mechanical one. Would like to avoid tearing into the carburetor but if I have to so be it. Has spark and fuel. New battery. Just died while driving. Any suggestions?

Is the gasoline a year old? I would think if it sat that long a good carb cleaning or rebuild would be in order as well. Any vacuum leaks?

the tank was emptied and filled up halfway. Ive sprayed carb cleaner around all the vaccum lines and it still wont fire up.

Run a compression test. If all cylinders test low or zero it's jumped timing. Since you have spark and fuel and it still won't run I'd suspect a jumped timing chain/belt. HTH. -Jim
