Transmission interchange

I have a 2000 impala with column shift and need to replace transmission. I
found one out of a car with floor shift, will it work in mine?

What year and models would have same transmission as my 2007 impala with 3.5 flex fuel. With 8th digit vin K. I've been told only a 2007 impala or monte Carlo with 3.5 and have to be the same year for my car they say. No other years. Is that true

No its not ive used them from diffrent years and motors and cars ive used them from uplanders and have aslo.used them from 07. Thru 12 but not the 3.6 motor only 3.9.and 3.9

    Will be driving fine, then transmission will act like it just went out and wont go and the engine just revs. Then I'll shut the car off and restart it and it's fine after that for awhile.
