Probably the gasoline that was in the tank for 3 years is the problem.

Yup....ethanol gas turns into some nasty yellow chemical after it sits around long enough. Doesn't even smell like old gas. Drain the tank and change out the fuel filter.

Gasoline without ethanol would not have fared much better after 3 years.
