1997 Honda CR-V's transmission's not changing gears, lost the ability to change gears while going uphill....
1997 Honda CR-V: You guessed it, if you've seen any of my other questions - transmission won't go into gear again! No forward, backward, nothing. I'm crushed because this is an AWESOME little SUV, had great mileage and was dependable and even had the a/c still working! Is there nothing else that can be done besides either replacing/rebuilding the transmission or trashing it?
I'm afraid not. It maybe time to move on. Or do some investing and hope you get 3 more years out of it. Your call.
*SIGH* I was afraid of that. How long do rebuilt transmissions usually last, do you know?
Take care of it and 15 years. Change the fluid every 30000 miles and who knows?
Awesome. This little car had over 300,000 miles on it, so it may just be that it wore out. Hondas are awesome like that. =)
Yeah. Keep it maintained and 500,000 miles is not out of the question. I've had vehicles that were taken care of and never worried about them leaving me stranded.
Besides, what can you get for the cost of replacing the transmission? A scatchy Hyundai? Better the devil you know......
