Have noticed when driving and definitely when hot outside that going up a little hill I feel a kick in the engine.

not enough info....is it something like the transmission _DOWN SHIFTING/\ ? help

more like a little stutter, i don't lose power or speed just like hitting a little speed bump in the road

My daughter's old explorer was experiencing the same thing, at about 40 mph. With 200K miles, I asked her when she last had it tuned up? The answer was; "what's that?" New plugs and wires fixed it. Check the small things first.
