02 Chevy suburban won’t run

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello, 2002 Chevy Suburban 1500 4wd. NOT FLEX FUEL (though it does have
the sensor for it) engine tries to start or will start for a brief moment and then
just cranks with no start. Fuel pump works. But there is no pressure at the rail.
No blown fuses.
If I spray starting fluid continuously, it will run.....rough, buts it stays running.
So it has spark and compression. It’s just not getting the Fuel.

Check for loss of pressure at the fuel pressure regulator by pulling the vacuum line off the regulator and inspect for fuel. There should be no fuel in that line. If there is, replace the pressure regulator. If the regulator is ok, turn the ignition to the on position 2 or three times, verify fuel pump buzz. Now try start the truck. If it starts and runs, then it's likely a check valve, that is a internal component of the fuel pump. Then replace the fuel pump module. These two scenarios are common to this fuel system. I've had both on my suburban. Good luck and happy truckin!
