My 2004 ford f-150 5.4l v8 fx4 have issues with the thermostat as the gauge creeps from c to midpoint and in the process loses power. what possibly could be causing that?

Loosing power could indicate an overheat condition. However, the thermostat being at midpoint should not indicate an overheat condition. Unless, the temp sending unit is bad or the gauge. I doubt you have a live data recorder, as it would tell you the actual engine operating temp once connected. May be worth the investment to have a shop check it out. If the engine is overheating, you can blow it.

Thanks for the advice, I would forward that response to my mechanic.
