2000 ford f150 4.2: heater/blower does not turn off when key is turned off, If I turn off fan with fan switch battery runs low. what can be causing these electrical gremlins?
YOur problem could be in the ignition switch. You vehicle may have an accessory position on the switch which allows power to be supplied to electrical components when the key is turned off. The position is usually all the way backward (toward the driver) from the off position. Your problem may be there.
If it does not have an accessory position then accessories usually operate from the "on" position of the switch. I'm placing my money on the ignition switch.
