I would test the bulb sockets for power and ground. Find out which is missing and this will help narrow down where to look. Also has car been in a recent fender bender?

No it's been sitting in a drive way for 3 months that's all the 3rd brake light has not worked for a while. The reverse light is new. I am thinking it is the backup light switch. I do not have the meter to check power

That's very possible. The switches are only about $20-$40. And very easy to replace.

It was the switch and I fix it now I have to fix a lug nut bolt that broke trying to take off the tire.
