Where should I start troubleshooting the problem of a vibration noise that is coming from driver's side front on 91 Ford F-150 4x4?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a growling vibration noise in the location of driver's side wheel area. It starts at about 25-30 mph, but stops when I stop and usually starts up again at same speed. It's very loud, and won't do it at all sometimes, but mostly it will.

Raise the corner and rotate the tire. Grab the spring and if the hub is bad, you will feel it grinding. Check the universals in the half shaft. It could also be a broken tread in the tire. Spin it and watch for bumps or irregularities.

possible wheel bearing failure, while driving turn slightly away from suspected area, if noise increases,or decreases wheel bearing is the problem.
