I went to put a knob on my windshield wipers and it
pushed the back off of the switch motor and then
it shorted out the ground wire and started smoking
so i killed it and now it will not start again

Repair the short and other wires which may have melted in the area. Check all the fuses. If still no start you will have to begin checking the ignition and running circuits to find the fault.

Also check electronic components installed on your year vehicle. Electronics do not react well to reversing the polarity.
