How do I replace/change the key door lock on driver's side of 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, LT. The key turns and turns but the mechanical lock, only found on the driver's side, will not operate.

Asked by bossman751 Jan 11, 2014 at 04:36 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When the key is inserted into the lock on the driver's side front door, this is the only mechanical key lock on the vehicle, 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, LT, the key turns and turns and turns and the lock does not operate.  The only way to unlock the vehicle is to use the remote on the key ring.  I drive around with the hood unlatched in the event the battery dies as this is the only way in.

Roy oh Roy. Using the tennis ball trick will open but you have damage to the locking mechanism. Why not use a crow bar or shot gun. less damage.

Remove the door panel once the door is open then remove the lock. A lock smith will be able to re-key the lock to fit your key, or keep the key with the lock if it is a one lock key.
