My 4wd light is on and can't seem to get it to kick out, into 2wd.. How can get this to kick out?

If you were stationary, with the engine running when you tried moving the shift lever from 4wd to 2wd, while applying the brakes with your foot and the parking brake set, you might try releasing the brakes after placing the shifter in gear then while idling either forward or in reverse moving the selector to 2wd. Don
