No crank No Start intermittent on 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L

Every so often I try and start my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L and I
get nothing. Everything works - radio, lights, horn, wipers,etc.. battery is
strong BUT no sound when I turn the key - no clicks, no cranking NOTHING
This is so frustrating - last time it did this was in about 8 months ago VERY
random. The tow truck driver dragged it onto a deck and when he dropped it
off at my house off the deck  it started like new!

Start with a wiring diagram, voltmeter and your ignition switch. Trace the entire starting circuit to find out why the starter isn't getting power.

Thanks Rick. I'll give it a try - if it was something in the circuit wouldn't it be continuous? This only happens extremely random. 8 months from the last time- before that about 3 months. Very weird

Wiring issues can be intermittent. Most often caused by bad terminal contact. Temp expansion and contraction can result in good contact one day and no contact another day.

Had t he same problem. Turned out to be starter. Starter is difficult to change but solved problem
