Will my Ford 250 haul this size 5th wheel safely?
I have never pulled a 5th wheel with my truck. The 5th wheel dry weight is 9900 lbs., 33 feet long. My 1997 F250 4x4 5.L has only 37,000 miles on it, so like brand new and very well cared for. Here are the specs I got from doing a VIN search. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/vindecoder.php?vin=1FTFX28L4VNB18515#vinDecoderFarea All these numbers are confusing. Help if you can please. Thanks!
I would think the F250 would be fine, I would call the Ford garage to be sure.
Thank you Rowefast, I will call them for sure. : )
Update: Good thing I called Ford Motor. No, my truck can only pull 8,500 safely. I can pull lots of the 30' and under trailers though, so that is what I will be looking for. Thanks again!
Good to know, thanks...
Uh...it will tow it safely. The ford numbers are for safety factors applying to fed govt regs. It has electric brakes....be sure you have a working brake controller, that they work well, and tow away. Make sure your tire load capacity is adequate....not all tires have same capacities just because they are a similar load range... load range e on 235/85/16 is different than that of a range e 245/75/16 even though they are the same range rating. the capacity number is embossed into sidewall of tires(all tires).
