Door Lock on tailgate will not unlock

I locked the tailgate and now it will not unlock.  Turns and everything but won't unlock.

Does it turn all the way around or the normal half/quarter turn? Chances are the mechanism is frozen up and just needs to be lubed up. I would recommend a can of spary white lithium grease. Unfortunately you still need to get it open. You may be able to take the back panel off with the tailgate shut. Worst case scenario, call a locksmith to open the lock and replace it with a new one.

How was this resolved ? It just happened to me on my 07 Ford Sport Trac. I locked the tailgate and now it won't unlock
