overheating

I have a ls sport Chevy cavalier 2003 its
running hot at 195  230 .. Replaced
thermostat housing ring flushed radiator
changed coolant jug cap , needle still goes
up

Here is something to check 1) Is the catalytic converter may be clogged. 2) Can you rent a tool from auto parts store to check the compression at the cylinders to find out if you are loosing compression possibly threw the head gasket.

Yes the cat will cause it get hot and loose power or hard to get the rpm's up. The head gasket can cause so many problems that all will eventually cause the engine to get hot.
