If the heater does NOT work, Check: Battery conditions, Heater Control Unit and fan switch to activate blower motor. Heater core. Heating system fuse and relay. Coolant/Antifreeze level and Thermostat. Thanks

Replace the heater core. With the hoses disconnected it's a safe bet the heater core was leaking and the previous owner didn't want to spend the money to replace it. Replace the heater hoses too. Hope that helps! Jim

Pressure test the system as is first, if nothing else is leaking then drain the system, replace the heater core and hoses, refill the cooling system and you should be good to go.

I have the 96 model of F150. This is a simple heater core fix. Not much in labor at all. It just depends how much you want to pour into it. Flush your heater core on an annual basis. Get one from junk yard OR pay much more for a new one or find someone who is selling a car for parts ( part out). I haven't paid out more than $150 for a flush/ parts. The Jeep Waggonner is the worse for a heater core with a 4 hour labor charge just to get to the heater core.

A brand new heater core will run you around $30 from Rockauto.com or your local auto parts store. Jim
