If I remove the battery on a 2004 ssr will it mess up the computer or anything else on the vehicle

No, you mess anything up. Only thing is you might lose the radio station presets.

Remove the negative first, then the positive cable. When installing the new, install the positive cable first, then the negative.

radio presets will need to be reset.
