Question type: General

My car is working wonderful (knock on wood).  My odometer stopped at
299,999.  Does anyone know if this is how it was designed?  I was told that this
could be an issue for state inspection

He said that if it is broke, I need to fix it, but if it is designed to stop at that point, we are not sure how we are going to do state inspection, since the state inspection is required to provide mileage and you can't be at the same mileage every year. My next inspection is in November. As I am researching more on line, i'm finding that this is a flaw that Toyota is aware of, however, all i'm finding is that Toyota is making the car owner pay to have a new odometer installed. Which is totally WRONG in my opinion. If the Toyota knows that it is a flaw, then it should be a recall or a fix at their expense. So i'm still digging. Next is a call/email to dealership that I purchased the car from and/or to the Toyota Main Office. keep working my way through - since I have a few months before my inspection.

My 2003 Corolla hit 299999 miles on our way from New Mexico to Az about a week ago. I have no idea how many miles I've put on since then I'm sure it is a few hundred miles or more. Have you heard from Toyota. I agree that should fix the problem.

Only programed for that.If you complain will get a new one at reduced price but will show zero miles
