SAME. took me 6 months to afford the new rack and pinion we needed for our 01 impala. FINALLY omg FINALLYYYYY got the rack replaced. literally drove it to the gas station , turned it off to get the gas, didnt even put the gas in it, went to crank. NOTHING no sound, NOTHING, tried to jump it , nothing, tried to add gas and shook it, NOTHING.

I've been told this is a glitch with the security system. My car randomly won't start, no click, nothing. I've noticed when the red security light on the dash is not flashing it won't start. My brother is a mechanic and he said it should have a code but of course it doesn't. When my car does this, it can't be jumped or anything. Very frustrating. I usually just have to keep trying and eventually it starts. However, there has been 2 times where it's had to sit for 12 hours before it starts. Very difficult for a single female that works over nights to head out to work and car not start for no reason at all. I've been told this is a "common impala problem". First chevy I've owned and honestly, not impressed due to the "common problems" impala have.
