Scan it for trouble codes to see what the car's computer has to say about it. Load test the battery to make sure its in good shape and make sure all your electrical connections are tight. Those are the basics you can do yourself to find some direction to the actual problem.

I did a security reset. Turn key ontill lights on dash come on (don't start the car) Leave it on for 5 minutes, Turn it off,,,wait 15 seconds turn key back on in run position ( don't start the car) wait 5 minutes,,turn car off wait 15 seconds, Now you have reset the security features on your cobalt. Turn key to start the engine and enjoy...... To reset the throttle body position sensor simply depress the brake pedal turn car on( don't start car) wait 30 seconds turn car off. Now release brake pedal...Turn car on and enjoy. If you are having a hard time with temp shutting off the car disconnect the temp sending unit located behind the thermostat housing. Don;'t worry about dash saying low temp....Replace temp sending unit when possible... Have a great COBALT day!
