Question type: Car Customization

Hi, i own a subaru impreza rs 2004, i just got it and i believe it has a stock engine. Im not sure tho becuz i gotta take it to my subby guy first. The reason im not sure is because it belonged to a cop as a regular car and it sounds and runs alot faster than it should. I'm almost completely in the dark here. if anyone could help i would appreciate it

The engine may appear stock, ie not fiddled with. But the Turbo may have been changed, Maybe a 18G, VF34. Its hard to say with out looking at the turbo codes. Secondly, it also could have been mapped, all your fueling, ignition, IPR - boost duty cycle, boost level increase an much more other factors. If you want to make it go fast but on a limited budget, id start with both cats removed (full zorst system), and an API inner wing induction kit, and a map. Yo may need a bigger fuel pump too. All the above bits should see you hit 300bhp easy, if you get a good mapper AND your engine is in good order :-) Hope this helps buddy. Fine choice of car BTW.

as an RS Impreza is NOT a turbocharged vehicle, your probably looking at some basic fuel tuning having been done to it, anbother thing is the RS motor uses higher compression internals from the factory than say a 2.5I Impreza, anyways it is possbile that the pistons have been swaped for ones that raise the compression even higher. If you reall are into tuning your subaru join mysubie.com it has been a godsend with new ideas for my Subaru and everyone is willing to talk and help eachother out.

ya dont modify it if you want to drive it to work everyday.... subarus can be fast i have a wrx but the more you modify for power the more your car will sit at the garage not running better off leaving it stock and getting something that all ready is fast... not the best answer but it will save you major headaches and enough money to buy that other car no jokes if you dont believe me just send me a msg ill tell you how much i spent \ PS: if you have money then they are super cool
