I have a 2003 Pontiac grand prix and the temp
gauge goes pass 210 sometimes but when I am
rolling it drop back down to like 150 what is
causing it to do that

Well both fans are working but don't have coolant in the car and the hose the goes to the radiator to the thermostat housing started to smoke today so should I change the thermostat an add coolant

Could I use anyone of these thermostat they both came out of an GM engine and the Pontiac is a GM engine also

Well the thermostar is good i just had put it in my other gm car and my headgasket is not burnt it was just the hose that was smoking because i never put coolant in the car i been riding withlut any

Well now I can't even go to far in the car without the water boiling not even 3 miles an it gets hot and I changed the thermostat put I find out I have a hole in my radiator but I put some glue on it to stop it from leaking but could that cause my car to run hot so fast or is it a head gasket problem

Its a 3.1 engine someone told me it could be my temp coolant sensor could that cause it to overheat also because I didn't have anything in my oil or anything like that for it to be a head gasket block because the car was running just fine before the hole in the radiator apprea

Would my oil dip stick look milky if my head gasket was the problem or if I had a crack head or how would I know

My car did show it was running hot I am changing the water pump today because it was old and I change the thermostat and my oil don't look milky at all and I have none of them tools to run a test on it like that

And the car always starts right up with no problem
