Transmission trouble

Asked by GuruCYZ4W Feb 07, 2019 at 02:52 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Pontiac grand am gt. Lately
I’ve been have issues with when I start it, it
doesn’t want to go like it’s stuck in first gear.
You rev it it up to like 4 before it will shift but
it still moves every slowly. After a good few
miles it will start driving like normal. I haven’t
been driving it cuz I’m afraid to tear up the
transmission. I’m trying to get back to work
and need my car.

Check the transmission fluid level first. Being low on fluid will cause problems. If the fluid is full, you may have a bad pump or internal transmission problems. Many transmission shops will check it for free.
