Abs light related to power steering?

Asked by Nikki Sep 14, 2016 at 11:52 AM about the 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2000 Gramd Am here, 150k miles... Sometimes in
the morning my power steering seems a little off
(more difficult to steer) and as soon as my ABS light
comes on the steering loosens up the exact second
the light comes on. There's got to be a relation
there somewhere that can be fixed... Any ideas
anyone?

No, power steering is not related to ABS. Check fluid level and v velt tention for power steering pump. You nay have an ABS sensor that's going bad but that's a separate issue

I have never seen this but their is a steering angle sensor involved with some ABS system. ( so computer knows you are turning and then will not set light for speed sensors have a different speed reading ) that might be something. It you can. When light is on have the codes read for ABS
