Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm replacing the valve cover gaskets on
my 2000 grand am 2.4l dohc and I can't
find the torque specs anywhere. All I find is
the head bolt specs. Would you happen to
know??

I do not know what the spec is, but all that is needed is about 1/4 turn past firm. The gasket absorbs most of the stress and it does not need to hold back any pressure - it only needs to be tight enough to keep oil in the head without leaking past the valve cover gasket.
