Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 grand am that will
suddenly start idling rough now and
then  , if I can gun it in neutral it
jumps to 4000 rpm then slowly goes

Could be dirty injectors, when we're they ever professionally cleaned?

Been quite a while , I don't know why it shows no codes , the check engine light does work to

Just cause the check engine is not on doesn't mean there isn't a problem, sometimes it takes a live data scan to find a problem. I just had my own car started just dying at slow turns or stops, but it would start right back up, no check engine light, doing a live data scan I found the map sensor was reading 6000 feet above sea level and I'm at 460 feet, replaced the sensor and problem went away.

It's going to the shop tomorrow. I will let you know what they find

Thanks for your input

Hope it is an easy find, Thanks for the points.

Took the car in told them to do an engine diagnosis , they said it needs mass air flow sensor , spark plugs , water pump , the dealer charged $207 just for diagnosis and said labor and parts would be $1200 , water pump alone would have been $900 , this was at the dealer , I know a mechanic that said would charge $500 less , dealers are a rip off
