Steering Wheel Shaking.

Asked by Bbrindle Jun 29, 2016 at 12:19 AM about the 1998 Pontiac Grand Am 4 Dr GT Sedan

Question type: General

Can I drive my car if the steering wheel
shakes? Around 55-60mph my steering
wheel begins to shake. It does not shake
while braking, just put on new front brakes
and rotors on a week ago, and my shocks
are okay.

One of your wheels may be out of balance. Or someone forgot to tighten lug nuts. I'd have it checked out before driving it, may be something simple, or maybe something dangerous.

Get front end inspected for loose or worn parts, get front end aligned, get tires balanced. Alignment will generally not cause vibration, but suspension parts can and tire out of balance is most probable on the list.
