how do you remove the front crank shaft pulley (aka; harmonic balancer) from a 2002 mitsubishi montero sport limited 3.5? What tools are required?
Commonly known as 'duck's foot'
not TOO costly
bingo there is also a three jaw goodie...I've used both~
thank you, however, the puller set picture you sent has bolts that are used to pull this I understand, but the balancer on the montero sport has 2 holes (not threaded) directly across from each other. the only part that is threaded is the center hole. Is there some other puller used for this application?
That would be the one above Judge Roy Posted
the three jaw will work with a center (push plate) or small-hole washer in the middle, my concern would be for clearances as will be required to use this three jaw puller~ does not care about match-em-up for thread size~
I suspect you do have holes for puller removal...they are 10mm~
And be careful not to mess up the center hole threads pushing, the bolt needs to thread nicely back on when re assembly is a'happenin'
two holes only....a wrench could be used~
a pointed bearing as one might find at a lathe station would be ideal for the center "pusher" sure a large hexnut or washer with an undersize hole could be used or a socket or just about anything that won't go in an clobber up the threads...dingus already has a cone point...a bearing would take torsional friction off of there~
yours (the duckfoot) has a flangey press-0-foot, if we could tear that one off and use that one or somehow combine the kits...
