disconnect the battery

i have been told to disconnect the battery on my 2005 lincoln town car for two
minutes to clear codes.  what will happen?

Clearing codes does nothing if you have not fixed the issue that caused the codes to register.

Some auto parts store will only read the codes, not clear them because they want to sell you the parts.
