2004 town car leaks oil has 170,000 miles and engine light is on

a inherited a 2004 lincoln town car and it leaks oil bad and the check engine
light is on  what do I do   I'm thinking of selling it or should I keep it and repair
it

The oil leak could be something simple or something major. A Town Car with 170K on the odometer and a bad oil leak isn't going to fetch much. I'd get it looked at by a mechanic and at least get an idea of it's mechanical condition. If you sold it as is, you'll be giving it away, but the flip side is putting more money into it than you can get back out.
