Engine block runs hot

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1996 Lincoln Mark VIII. Changed the thermostat
and the radiator (had a crack) and water pump is
working, but the engine block gets hot and stays
hot along with the upper radiator hose goin onto
the block. When car is at hot temperature, at 60
mph, engine makes a ticking sound. And then the
top speed will then decrease. What am I missing?

If the engine's been overheated, I think you've damaged the head, causing coolant to leak into your engine and that ticking sound is from improper lubrication with the coolant mixing into your oil.

coolant pressure test can check if the engine's water jacket is compromised, as well as a compression test to check head gasket condition.
