Electrical issues

Asked by 614blue Feb 23, 2018 at 05:00 PM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Columbia Edition 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 jeep grand Cherokees electric components won't stop
working. When the key is out the engine for hours you can still roll
windows up and down and windshield wipers stay on if not turned
off (not sure if this was normal before). Since the electric issues
the alarm no longer goes off when my door the lock doesn't work
on is opened.

These jeeps have a computer with a power supply. Make sure that you put in the exact battery to match the computer . The biggest mistake is to think any 12 volt battery is fine. It is not. I hope this can stop problems for every one.

These jeeps in every year has issues but the issue isnt the jeep it's the users present and past Over years people add and remove options to vehicles stereos and lights and lift etc so each time the smallest of things is changed. I'll tell u after k. So 97jeep grand cherokee limited is mine Ohhh nitemare till I broke it down every component is interconnected to another for operating computers learn habits and that's what all these have done so hard reset break down all components open them and any aftermarket splices open em carefully with neg terminal off and engine running one at a time eliminate or put back together one at a time that operate with out issue components have mechanical electrical and ground each component shared a circuit with another go thru relays and fuses switches and modules and computers so look at each problem as a whole component ground relay fuses pcm fuse box under hood power center one at a time to each improperly working component ie light radeo windows if now tears runs frayed or cuts missing ground relays and fuses Not relay batches most times have inline fuse attached to taped relays change them.if blown try components again now get out roll up all windows turn off all components un buckle all seat belts no defrost nothing if u have programmer dump it to your programmer. Get out open hood lock all doors from main controller No lite nothing k Close the door Lift hood disconnect battery posative and negative but it should of already been off when checking components any way zap strap together this takes out and electrical current from everything un plug pcm modules sensors light connections everything u can see and reach carefully and plug them back in one at a time computers modules switches now turn ur headsets on low beam put terminals back on battery tight and cleaned well. Go to drivers door unlock and lock 3 times not to fast not to slow enter vehicle sit down close door just start it do nothing turn nothing else on Let it run idle for a few min rev up engin 2000 rpm holding it at. Turn on your a/c info have or heater to high position gradually takebu foot off gas Now turn off heater or AC and one thing at a time components lights high beam signals horn one at a time not at once. Window one at time done lites fog lites etc Now buckle up go for a normal drive turn signals as u would normally pcm is learning relearn the call it because I did a hard reset or took it outta limp mode Or no start As u drive it nite feel.rough at first dont worry your computer is talking and learning your driving and functions This solved .y jeep problems in its entirety. Every time something is done need.to re boot or reprogram your computer and components to newly changed and added parts elect and mechanical.alike its repairs over years and no reboot that causes continuous process faults one after another from lits or no lite to stalling and over heating to lack of function or none at all reboot for every little thing u do add or change and u can do it at home for free but it does take time and patience good luck all Start your vehicle leave everything but what comes
