Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 jeep cherokee, 4.7 engine,4wd. Leaking anti-freeze somewhere in the engine. Engine runs great, no over heat,no noises, no external leaks, oil pressure good, but took off oil fill cap & there is anti- freeze residue present. It's leaking about 2 qts every 4 to 5 days. Oil from dipstick looks real clean.Took compression test & all cylinders good, no smoke from tailpipe.  Any thoughts were leak might be?

It sounds like it is evaporating the the intake manifold, or possibly a head gasket leak. Have both systems run under a leak check by either yourself or a mechanic. either is costly. I leaning towards head gasket though.

Those cars and others with plastic intake manifolds can suffer cracks in the latter and thus the water leaks into the engine or out of it depending on crack location. Have it professionally checked by someone with right knowledge and tools for the job

Cars with plastic intake manifolds tend to develop cracks in the latter that are not readily seen. This can cause leaks into the engine or out of it. Have a professional with the right knowledge and tools test the intake for leaks. A cylinder head usually takes a serious overheat to blow the gasket. A plastic intake on the other hand can crack due to heat, extensive or uneven torqueing.
