Starting

Asked by GuruTMTBK Jul 21, 2018 at 02:13 PM about the 1991 Ford Bronco Custom 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When starting the engine; turning the ignition switch the gauges activate and
the fuel pump starts but the starter does not run; starter solenoid does not
activate.  You can jump the solenoid and engine starts right up.  Moving the
drive selector does make a difference.

Hi So basically seems like you might have a bad starter solenoid, since it starts up when jump you the solenoid you there is power to it, but just in case you might want to check your ignition switch since the small wire on the solenoid receives the signal from the ignition switch Also in order to test any solenoid you can try feeding some 12v power to the solenoid positive to the small wire and negative or ground usually goes on your metal of the starter
